2027: Jonathan will contest, return to Aso Rock — Jerry Gana

Goodluck Jonathan

Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information and Orientation, has declared that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reclaim the presidency.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the PDP Niger State Congress in Minna on Saturday, Gana said Nigerians, having experienced two administrations since Jonathan left office, are now calling for his comeback.

“In 2015, Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians. Since then, one president has ruled for eight years, and another for two years. Nigerians have seen the difference, and they are now asking for Jonathan’s return,” Gana stated.

He further confirmed: “Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election as the PDP candidate, and we should be ready to vote him back as president.”

Gana described the PDP as a grassroots-oriented, democratic party that allows Nigerians to freely choose their leaders. He insisted the party remains popular because of its people-centred programmes.

On internal matters, the former minister dismissed claims of crisis, saying issues had been resolved following a consultative conference convened by the party’s founding fathers.

He urged Nigerians to “shine their eyes” and vote out the current administration in favour of Jonathan’s return, promising it would usher in “good governance.”
